COURSES

1.0 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Standard Qualifications  

Grade 12 School Certificate, or equivalent. 

Alternative Qualifications

A minimum of Craft Level IV Certificate, or equivalent in a related discipline from an accredited institution.

2.0 EXEMPTIONS

Candidates who hold a two-year Certificate in Cooperative Development and Agribusiness Management (CDAM) or its equivalent will be exempted from the first year of the programme.

Exemptions with regard to all other qualifications will be considered on a case by case basis, taking into consideration the content and duration of the courses.

3.0 STUDENT ASSESSMENT

Students shall be subjected to mandatory two assignments, one end of term test and end of year final examination. Continuous assessment, consisting of assignments, practical assessments, and tests shall constitute forty percent (40%) of marks for each course. The end of year Mulungushi University/Cooperative College examination shall constitute sixty percent (60%) of the overall mark. The pass mark shall be fifty percent (50%). The summary of assessment is presented below:

4.0 ATTENDANCE

The candidate must have an attendance of minimum 85% to be eligible for the final examinations.

5.0 PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS

Failures

Trainees failing in four (4) or more modules shall be considered as outright failures for that academic year and shall be given one chance to repeat the year. Trainees failing in less than four modules shall only be given two chances to re-sit supplementary examinations, after which they shall be removed from the programme if they fail to clear the arrears.

Referrals

    Trainees failing in three (3) courses or less shall be allowed to continue with the programme, but shall have to sit for supplementary examinations within two successive examination sittings.

    6.0 STAFFING

    Minimum of Advanced Diploma in Cooperatives, Agribusiness Management or in a related programme.

    A Technical Teaching qualification.

    7.0 CERTIFICATION

    Diploma in Cooperatives and Business Management (DCBM) will be awarded by Mulungushi University to successful trainees
